YOUNG HELLIONS.....STAND UP!

Badlands is a Melbourne based lifestyle brand inspired by the moments that take your breath away and the people you share those moments with.

Working with a team of international artists to create our "Young Hellions" Collection and create timeless products with a keen eye for the social responsibility we have to source ethically created materials produced under safe, fair, legal and humane working conditions.  "Young Hellions" is a line of 6 quality garments inspired by the women
who inspire us.

If you can't make it on the opening night Friday 7 July 6-9pm, head to Off the Kerb Gallery every Saturday from 12-5pm for our 2 week long pop up store.

#REPOST by KAT WEIR and CLARE HAMPSHIRE

Clare Hampshire examines the void we fill with ever-increasing amounts of  'desired objects' - the latest smart phone model, the freshest 'hipster foods’ and the empty pursuit of worldly pleasures. By rendering disposable everyday objects in a medium as classical and lasting as oils, Clare grants these objects the status of immortality.
Through a re-imagining of the classical technique of self portraiture, Kat Weir’s paintings explore the idea of empowerment through the "selfie" and the control we are beginning to have over how our bodies are seen and the bodies we see, via social media. This is added to by the reversal of the “Gaze”, which creates power in the subject of the paintings, letting them define themselves.

Babes and Foes by Katherine Nguyen

Babes and Foes are little miserable beings yet hopeful set in a world to be. We live in a world where we are always being assessed. We shouldn’t care but deep inside there’ll always be that thought that we do. The competition, the look, the attitudes. Who are we? Or who are we pretending to be?

COSMIC PORTAL by MIRA KRULIC

While we spend much of our lives looking without really seeing, Mira Krulic takes on the task of nudging us through the ‘anywhere door’ to rekindle our childlike sense of wonder. Abstract compositions, lush colours and obscure light sources create ambiguous spatial worlds that beg exploration. Cosmic Portal is a point of entry to these realms where the viewer is encouraged to unravel loose perceptual threads and see where their individual wanderings lead.
