SPRING DAYS group show 2025
Spring symbolizes rebirth, rejuvenation and renewal. In our natural environment, plants begin growth anew after the dormancy of
winter. Animals come out of their winter hibernation and begin their nesting and reproducing activities, birds migrate poleward in
response to the warmer temperatures.
In the history of art, spring is represented in its exuberance through vivid colour, and dappled light, such as Claude Monet’s 'Sprintime'.
Others portray the surreal elements of Spring, such as 'La Primavera' by Giuseppe Arcimboldo and Salvador Dali’s 'First Day of
Spring'. Botticelli’s La Primavera is a significant work that illustrates passionate emotion, young love and deep symbolism as seen in
the constructs of the painting. In Philosophy, Pablo Neruda echoed these sentiments in his famous comment, “You can cut all the flowers,
but you cannot keep spring from coming.”
