Share houses, suburbia and the local pub. Drying dishes, mismatched chairs and forgotten shoes of former housemates. This series of quiet and contemplative paintings portrays snapshots of the life of the artist and those around him through the objects and scenes of everyday life. Light and structured composition are used intentionally to highlight the narrative and unique aesthetic that exists within these ordinary spaces.

BACK GALLERY

EPHEMERAL NATURE

CATALOGUE

A collaboration between photographer James Annesley and artist/life model Elsa Thorp, this exhibition reflects on the fleeting nature of the human form and its deep connection to the natural world.

Elsa’s practice centres on embodying her relationship with nature, while James explores the ephemerality of form through photography - a memory made visible. The images, captured on 35mm film using long exposure times, evoke a spectral quality, created entirely in-camera without digital manipulation.

Complementing the photographs is a site-specific botanical installation by Elsa Thorp, grounding the work in the textures of the living world.

IN THE MEANTIME
Notes on detours, slow changes & quiet growth

Life often takes the long way around. I’ve learned that uncertainty can still move us forward in quiet ways. Waiting for my Australian residency reminded me of other turns in my life, like when I had to leave university because of money. Those pauses once felt heavy, but they led me to work, to learn, and to meet people who changed me. Through watercolor, pencil, and acrylics, I paint these in-between moments of waiting, shifting, and finding small meanings in the time between where I was and where I am now.

Mar Jefferson Go (boatpaperplane) is a Filipino visual artist and graphic designer. Alongside his work as an Art Director for magazines, he creates figurative paintings rooted in personal experience and a sense of childlike wonder. His recent works explore themes of detours, growth, and the quiet resilience that comes with navigating life’s unexpected turns — often through dreamlike, emotionally layered imagery.

DREAM MACHINES

Dream Machines is a voyage into a realm of mystical fluid forms, bending and dissolving around machines at the forefront. Each work reimagines the automobile as psychic presence, shifting between dreams and landscapes of vibrant colour. Referencing an era of Kyusha car design during the 1970s & ‘80s, this body of work invites viewers to be hypnotised by these Kaido racers as they drift through dynamic abstractions.
