A WORLD OF HIS OWN by BAREK

A series of paintings and sculptures documenting the people from a newly discovered island in Barek World. Home to a people steeped in mystery, deeply spiritual, yet not unlike ourselves. Intricate weaving, cloaks, beading, charms and spells are used to call upon spirits or the dead. From the tiniest beetle to the tallest mountain - all has a spirit that can be summoned in times of need...
'He lives in a world of his own' was a comment left on my school report card by a teacher. For a long time it had negative connotations but now I embrace it.
(I quite like Barek World and I don't plan on coming back!)

DWELLINGS by EMILY WRIGHT

Dwellings is a collection of works interested in the home. Why do we choose to settle in one place? This seemingly universal phenomenon sees many decide to set down roots and attach themselves to a singlestructure for a significant amount of their lives. Emily Wright explores both what is meant by ‘home’ and the universal desire to find a place to call your own.

RUFFLED FEATHERS & GNASHING TEETH by MICHAEL CAIN

Ruffled Feathers & Gnashing Teeth intends to explore the nostalgia and sense of longing we have for simpler times. Times when colours seemed brighter, things looked bigger and an ice cream on a hot summer’s day was magical. Works layered together using acrylic washes, aerosol and pencil will transport the viewer back in time, connecting them with long-lost emotional moments and memories that have been consumed by time and the shift into adulthood.

FUNGI FOREST by BEKA HANNAH

With a craft based practice Beka Hannahs work revolves around a re-imagination of the everyday. In the isntallation work "Fungi forest" Beka uses scale to explore the viewers engagement with the natural world around us. The giant mushroom forms dwarf the viewer and invites them to think of mushrooms in a new and unexpected way.
